Salad Turnips
The white Hakurei Salad Turnips we grow are a cross between a radish and a turnip. They are best sliced and eaten fresh. They have a sweet, crisp, flavor with a very mellow radish-like bite to them.
Storage and Handling:
Tear off leaves if they are still attached and store in a loosely closed plastic bag for 3 to 5 days. These are a delicious tender early spring green that can be cooked up with a little garlic and olive oil.
Store salad turnips dry in a plastic bag in your refrigerator crisper drawer for up to a week. Before using, rinse under cold water and gently scrub to remove any lingering dirt.
Culinary Uses:
Salad Turnips are wonderful when eaten raw in salad or alone. They can also be lightly sautéed in olive oil with a little onion and/or garlic, boiled, steamed, and roasted.
